Basket Case
Basket Case
The Basket Case embraces the idea of a practical bike bag that doesn’t look like a bike bag. A bag that you plop in a basket, ride somewhere, and then carry comfortably on your body. A bag without 27 attachment points. You take it out of the basket and it’s just a smart-looking everyday carry-all. Unbelievable, right?
Whenever people ask me for touring or commuting solutions, I immediately recommend they get a basket and a bag to go inside it. The Basket Case combines the accessibility of a rando bag with the versatility of a backpack or tote. This seamless bike commuter companion is just as handsome and practical off the bike. It handles a load of groceries with grace, looks just as fine filled with layers, lunch & laptop, or pile in touring essentials for a multi-day voyage.*

NOTES ON RACKS & BASKETS:
The basket pictured is the 1372 Front Basket made by Wald; these baskets are USA made, durable, affordable. You can see a full description and buy Wald baskets here, or in the real world at Golden Pliers. Wald Baskets come with their own mounting hardware, which works okay on some bikes, looks kinda clunky. I recommend visiting your favorite local, independent bike shop to see what front rack they recommend for your bike & basket setup. I cut the mounting hardware off my basket and zip-tie it onto the rack.
*The current basket attachment is the most subtle, minimal and practical solution I've found so far for connecting the Basket Case to the basket. I trust my customers’ innovative spirits will add a strap, bungee, whatever they feel necessary for the type of riding they do. I highly recommend adding a bungee net to your basket, especially if you're going on tour or riding off pavement. This adds security to your load and allows you to fill the basket even beyond the capacity of your basket bag. You can find bungee nets at Golden Pliers or your local independent bike shop, hardware stores and sporting goods stores.
+ Note that the liner color is subject to change with each batch, but there’s a good chance it’ll be an obnoxiously neon color.
