Martexin Original Wax 1.5oz Tin

Martexin Original Wax 1.5oz Tin

$12.00

I use waxed canvas from two different companies; one of them is Martexin. The wax compound used to treat canvas is actually a blend of wax and oils, and every company has their own special sauce. So if you wish to touch up or re-wax canvas, it’s a good idea to use the same compound the fabric was originally treated with. This is Martexin’s special sauce. The 1.5oz tin goes a long way and should be more than enough for touch-ups and spot treatments over the years.

The Martexin canvas I use is the base fabric (Tan, Black, Gray, and sometimes Pine) for the Outback Saddlebag, Basket Case, and Hangdown. Smaller bags and accents (like the pockets on the Basket Case, or the roll-top on the Hangdown) are a different canvas that’s been beeswaxed. I won’t say the Martexin won’t work to treat those products, but I can’t guarantee the results either.

I’m not an expert on waxing canvas—it seems to be a craft of its own—so I won’t delve into tips here. So many tutorials can be found out there on the World Wide Web…
